# Ledger accounts

Ledger accounts keep signing keys on the hardware device. WalletChan stores the
public address, derivation path, and device/account metadata needed to request
a signature.

## Requirements

* A Chromium browser with WebHID support.
* An unlocked Ledger with the Ethereum app open.
* No other wallet or Ledger application holding the device connection.

Ledger setup and signing are not available through Firefox's current extension
transport.

## Add a Ledger

1. Choose **Ledger** from onboarding or **Add account**.
2. Connect and unlock the device.
3. Approve the browser's device-selection prompt.
4. Choose the derivation scheme and one or more displayed addresses.
5. Label the imported account if desired.

WalletChan never reads the Ledger recovery phrase or private key.

## Sign

After you confirm a WalletChan review, the request remains visible while the
device asks for approval. Verify the address, amount, network, and data on the
Ledger itself. WalletChan then broadcasts the signed transaction or returns the
signature.

Do not disconnect the device while it says **Waiting for Ledger**. If you reject
on-device, the wallet reports the request as rejected and does not submit it.

## Supported controls

Ledger accounts can use local fee selection, ordinary EOA nonce controls,
pending-transaction speed-up/cancel flows, Send, supported message signing,
Safe-owner actions, sequential staking legs, Shield paths, and transaction
simulation. The built-in Swap/Bridge shortcut, ERC-5792 batches, fee-token gas,
EIP-7702/ERC-7715, and force inclusion are not offered. Every Ledger signing
feature still requires real-device approval.

## Troubleshooting

Close Ledger Live and other wallet tabs, reconnect the cable, unlock the
device, open the Ethereum app, and retry. See
